Set a consistent visual foundation for every NIM App, then override it only where a specific experience needs a different identity.

Go to Configuration → Apps → Settings. These values set the default appearance of Apps in your environment. An individual App can opt out of the default color settings in its Properties and define its own background colors.
Test light and dark themes in a non-production App after changing colors, opacity, or blur. A combination that looks good in one theme may reduce contrast in the other.

| Setting | Meaning |

| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Color text (light/dark) | Default text color in each theme. |

Choose colors with enough contrast against the App form background. Labels should remain readable without competing with form values or errors.
App form surfaceDirect link to App form surface
These settings control the main form area behind App screens.
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Color background (light/dark) | Default App form background color for each theme. |
| Color app forms background opacity (light/dark) | Form background opacity from 0.0 to 1.0. |
| Color app forms background blur (light/dark) | Blur applied behind App forms; use 0 for no blur. |
Higher opacity improves readability. Background blur is primarily a visual treatment; use it sparingly so forms remain clear and performant.

- Set primary, secondary, text, and background colors for the light theme.
- Set the corresponding dark-theme colors; do not assume a light color translates well to dark mode.
- Verify status colors remain distinguishable from each other and from normal actions.
- Add light and dark top-bar logos if your branding requires them.
- Test a representative App in Run mode, including validation, notices, and error states.
- Use per-App overrides only for intentional exceptions, such as a branded self-service portal.
