Review the vendor's Jamf Pro API Overview for authentication and account privileges. API authentication does not support SSO; use account credentials that can authenticate directly to the API.
NIM requires Hostname, Username, and Password.

- Identify the hostname of your Jamf Pro instance.
- Configure an account with read access to the device data needed for your audit and update privileges for the mobile device details you intend to maintain.
- Ensure the NIM server can reach Jamf Pro over HTTPS.
Jamf Pro provides instance-specific API documentation at /api/doc. Use it to review the permissions required by your process.

Test version retrievalDirect link to Test version retrieval
-
Select Test Connection. NIM attempts to retrieve the Jamf Pro version using:
GET /api/v1/jamf-pro-version -
If the test fails, verify the Hostname, Username, Password, account permissions, and network access.
-
Collect computer and mobile device data and review the results in NIM before using them in filters or reports.
-
Validate intended mobile device detail updates with a test record and confirm the result in Jamf Pro before enabling automation.
The connection test checks version retrieval. Validate device collection and update permissions separately. The connector supports updates to mobile device details; computer collection is read-only.
