Configure a student update mapping that identifies each PowerSchool student by id and writes the intended value to contact_info.email. Start with a narrow filter and a safe student record, then confirm the result in PowerSchool before scheduling the mapping for a broader population.

  • Configure and test the PowerSchool SIS connection.
  • Collect the PowerSchool student data so the selected records include the correct id value.
  • Create and verify a filter that selects only the students whose email information should change.
  • Confirm that the source email value is present and appropriate for every selected student.

  1. In NIM Studio, go to Output > Mappings and select Add.
  2. Set System to PowerSchool SIS, Target to students, and Function to student_update.
  3. Name and save the mapping.
  4. Select the filter that returns the students to update.
  5. Map the PowerSchool student id and the email value to contact_info.email.
  6. Save the mapping.

The student_update operation updates the selected student record. Keep the filter focused so the mapping does not change students outside the intended population.

Test and schedule the updateDirect link to Test and schedule the update

  1. Test the mapping with one safe student record.
  2. Confirm that the selected record is the intended PowerSchool student and that the email contact information changed as expected in PowerSchool.
  3. Review the NIM output results for errors before expanding the filter.
  4. Add the mapping to an existing job and schedule it only after the limited test succeeds.

If a result is unexpected, stop the broader run and confirm the filter, student id, and mapped email value before trying again. See review job results for help investigating output errors.
