Filter maintenance

Reuse shared criteria safely and keep the workflows that depend on each filter working as intended.

For a new filter, start with Create and test a filter. For a portable JSON copy, use Import or export filters.

Reuse a parent filter

A child filter starts with its parent's criteria. Use one when several populations share the same base rules but one needs more restrictions.

1. Go to Processing > Filters.
2. Locate the parent filter and select its child-filter (chain) icon.
3. Name the child, add its own conditions, preview the result, and save it.

The parent's criteria appear locked in the child. Selected columns, column order, calculated columns, and sorting are copied into the child but can be adjusted independently. A child should narrow the inherited population; use Copy for a separate filter whose base logic may change.

Edit a filter

1. Select Edit Filter for the filter in Processing > Filters.
2. Change its items, columns, ordering, or other options.
3. Preview representative records in Data and select Save.

Check mappings, roles, jobs, and apps that consume the filter before changing its returned columns or population.

Copy or rename a filter

Select the filter's Copy icon when a similar but independent configuration is needed. NIM creates a duplicate with a numbered suffix, such as _01. Rename and review the copy before using it.

To rename an existing filter, select its Rename icon, enter the new name, and press Enter.

Remove a filter

Before removal, check which mappings, roles, jobs, and apps refer to the filter. In Processing > Filters, select Remove Filter and confirm the action only after those dependencies have been updated.

For a backup or transfer between environments, export the filter first.
