Workflow monitoring tutorial
Notify NIM administrators when a job guard threshold stops job items from running, so they can investigate the data or adjust the threshold before work is missed.

A guarded job
Configure or identify the job whose threshold you want to monitor.
Mail delivery
Confirm NIM can send mail to the administrators who should receive the alert.
Event access
Use an account that can create notification templates and event actions.

Create a reusable email template that includes the job-guard details needed to investigate a threshold violation.

Go to Events > Templates and select Add.

Name the template
Job-Guard-Notification, then select Create. -
For Notification Event, select a
job-guardevent for one of your jobs. -
Provide valid From and To addresses, plus a clear subject.

In the email body, add the event > job_guard_tasks variable.

Add the event > job_threshold_violation variable, then select Save.

Connect the template to the job guard event and limit the action to threshold failures.

Go to Events > Actions and select Add.

For Event type, select
job-guard. -
For Event name, select the job to monitor, then select Add.

In the new event-action row, select
Job-Guard-Notificationfor Template. -
Clear Success so NIM sends this notification only when the threshold prevents a job item from running.

Select Save.
