Step 9: Test and Publish the Password Reset App
Now that you have set up and configured NIM's self-service password reset system, it's time to test it and publish it to your organization.
Access your new password reset app at a URL like the following: https://yournimserver.yourdomain.com/passwordreset/password_reset_profile_name.
Important
In the above URL, replace "yournimserver.yourdomain.com" with the fully qualified domain name of your NIM server. Additionally, replace "password_reset_profile_name" with the name of the password reset profile you configured in Step 4.
Note also that this URL is case sensitive, and the casing of your password reset profile name much exactly match what is configured in NIM.
Testing the functionality of the password reset app is as simple as having one or more employees identify themselves through the app and reset their passwords. Ensure that all notifications sent to the users arrive correctly and look as you expect them to. Also ensure that the desired password is reset it all target systems that you configured in Step 4. Note any errors and resolve them accordingly. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact support.
Once tested and validated, you can publish the app to your organization. Access to the password reset app can be granted in two ways:
Users can access it through a network-connected machine that is already logged in—either a kiosk or another user's computer.
The NIM server can be made accessible from the internet, so that users outside of the organization (e.g., remote workers) can reset their passwords. As a security measure, a web application firewall (WAF) can be configured to prevent outside access to the /studio path.
Note
Unlike other NIM apps, the password reset app does not require authentication. This is necessary, as people who have forgotten their passwords are unlikely to have logged into your organization's network.
