NIM

Authorization

Introduction

NIM is designed with robust security measures to manage access and permissions effectively. The system's internal authorization ensures that sensitive information and critical functionalities are only accessible to authenticated and authorized users. This article discusses the various aspects of the internal authorization system within NIM.

Permissions

Currently there are only two levels of permissions that are available in NIM

  • Local Authentication

    • NIM allows users to authenticate using credentials stored directly within its system. It's a straightforward method where users log in with a username and password created during the initial setup or added by administrators. See Provisioning Internal Users

  • LDAP Integration

    • For organizations using LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) for managing user information, NIM can integrate with these systems. It allows users to log in using their LDAP credentials, streamlining the login process and maintaining a central user directory. See LDAP

  • SSO via SAML

    • For organizations using leverage an SSO Identity Provider, you can leverage SAML with NIM for authentication. It allows users to log in using their existing credentials, streamlining the login process and maintaining a central user directory. See SAML

Recovery

In cases where users forget their passwords, NIM provides recovery mechanisms to ensure continued access:

Caution

As the Administrator if you are lost access to your NIM instance, please reach out to Tools4ever Support

  • Forgot My Password

    • A common feature where users can request a password reset link sent to their registered email. This link guides them through securely setting a new password.

  • Administrator

    • As an administrator of NIM you can use Mappings or App Actions to reset the password for a user.
